Leah started her career after Sixth Form as a Professional Badminton Player.
She was Junior National Champion Gold and Silver Medallist from ages 13 to 18 years of age and then progressed into senior professional badminton. She travelled the world competing in Asia and Europe representing County and Country. Leah lived at the National Badminton Centre for 2 years in Milton Keynes and stuck to a very strict regime of training, sleeping and healthy eating. She gained great experience from being a professional badminton player and enjoyed the competitive side of it.
Leah decided to take her competitive streak into business at the age of 22 and became a sales consultant at David Lloyd Fitness Centre in Birmingham. Within a year Leah was promoted to Sales Manager and stayed with David Lloyd for many years working at many different sites.
Leah joined Healthier Weight in 2009 as she is a firm believer that a healthy weight is a skill to be learned. She knows from experience that it is extremely easy to put on weight after a change in lifestyle – she gained pounds after quitting professional sport. Leah has had to adapt her eating patterns to fit her less active lifestyle. “I still play badminton – but now it’s for fun and I don’t expend nearly as many calories per day as I used to. I’ve definitely had to cut back on what I can eat.”
Leah says
“I've learned so much about weight loss, obesity surgery and healthy lifestyles. I’m used to being professional, committed and dedicated to achieve results but I have been so impressed by the care and commitment shown by the Healthier Weight team for the patients. I’m also humbled by the tremendous efforts some of our patients make to achieve their goals. In sport you can’t afford to be sentimental but this brings a tear to the eye”.
We say
Leah is the ultimate optimist and a great , fun person to have around.
