Paul Super has worked as a senior Upper GI surgeon at Birmingham Heartlands & Solihull NHS Trust and as Honorary Consultant at Queen Elizabeth University Hospitals Trust
His main interest is in oesophago-gastric surgery and in particular laparoscopic surgery. Each year he performs over 100 laparoscopic cholecystectomies, 100 laparoscopic anti-reflux procedures and 400 laparoscopic gastric band insertions for obesity.
He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and a member of the British Obesity Surgical Society, Association of Upper Gastro Intestinal Surgeons and a member of the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland.
In obesity surgery he set up the well known Heartlands Hospital NHS surgical obesity service which serves approximately 10% of the population of England. He carries out valued clinical research into obesity surgery, regularly presenting and publishing this work.
