What is Body Mass Index (BMI)?
Body mass index is the measure most often used by medical professionals to determine whether someone is obese. The BMI calculator is a measure of relative weight (weight for height) and is calculated by taking your weight in kilogrammes divided by your height in metres squared.

What does my BMI mean?

 Under 18.5   You are classed as underweight.

 18.5 - 24.9    Your BMI is normal - you are a healthy weight!

  25.0 - 29.9   You are classed as overweight. You may be eligible to join a Healthier Weight weight loss programme

  30.0 - 34.9   You are classed as obese. You could join a weight loss programme or you may be eligible for obesity surgery

  35.0 - 39.9   You are classed as obese class II. You are likely to be eligible for some obesity surgery procedures

  40.0 - 44.9   You are classed as obese class III. You are likely to be eligible for most obesity surgery procedures
