A common frustration for some patients is that even after the first X-ray adjustment of the
gastric band they feel little restriction even though it looks as though the band adjustment is perfect. It may then take several further adjustments to the gastric band to reach the correct level of restriction.
Why is this? The reason is that pressure may fall a tiny amount after each adjustment. It’s not due to leakage or the structure of the band, rather the stomach tissue relaxes into the band i.e. tissue is remodelled around the gastric band. It’s important to note that this is a perfectly normal thing to happen.
