Steve has been overweight all his life but after years of not losing weight he recently lost weight on the Weight to Go weight loss programme. He lost 7 stones in 6 months. He now runs marathons and did the Great North Run this year and he is running in the New York marathon this year.
Seeing his grandfather suffer from diabetes and kidney failure forced Steve Hams to take a look at his own life. “It was so traumatic seeing what happened to my grandfather, I feared it would happen to me” he said. “He had a heart attack in his 50s and developed diabetes recently before dying from renal failure. Many members of my family are overweight and I gradually gained weight until I was 17 stones 13 lbs.
Steve used the Healthier Weight food after trying many other diets but not losing weight. “All the other diets had been purely focused on weight loss, but this was a lifestyle change”.
Steve made the effort, with his pedometer, to walk regularly. He progressed to running and in 2007 completed the London marathon.
In 6 months Steve lost 7 stones, his chest size fell from 46 inches to 38 inches and his waist dropped 12 inches from 44 inches to 32 inches
