Irene Hatton came to the Healthier Weight Centre in September 2006 after years of trying to lose weight.
“I had tried all sorts of diets over the past few years, but none of them had really worked for me. I was feeling listless, unmotivated and lacking in energy”
Irene showed instant commitment to the HWC programme, travelling for 2 hours each way on public transport to attend the classes. Some people might have seen this as a bit of a drag, but Irene saw an opportunity for some extra physical activity. Following the advice of our programme, she began gradually increasing the amount of walking in her daily routine by getting off the bus a stop or two earlier each week. Before long, she was covering at least 40 miles a week!
“You adapt quickly to the small changes in your routine that are a part of the HWC programme – after a few weeks they begin to feel normal and they really start to work for you!”
Irene lost a total of 2½ stone on the medical programme, and now no longer requires the double knee operation she had resigned herself to. Her changed attitude to food, exercise and lifestyle are obvious to those who know her:
“A good friend of my husbands thought he was having an affair, having seen us together and not recognising me! Mind you, I had lost 8 inches off my waist and 8 dress sizes since I saw him last, so perhaps he can be forgiven his suspicions!”
Irene has just completed the HWC Maintenance Programme, and continues to successfully maintain her new, healthier weight. “Not only has HWC helped me to lose my excess weight quickly and safely, the maintenance programme has taught me how to keep it off for good by keeping up the lifestyle changes I have made. I’ve never felt better!”
