Weight loss surgery is a life changing operation, and choosing the surgeon and clinic to get this done with should be a well researched choice.
You probably already have a criteria of what you want in your surgeon. We have created a list of what you should look for in a bariatric surgeon before going ahead and booking weight loss surgery with them.
It’s important to look at your surgeons credentials, if they are based in the UK then you can start by looking at the GMC Register.
The GMC is a specialist register with the names of all doctors and surgeons in the United Kingdom. Your surgeon should be on that register and should be on the GMC specialist register specifically for general surgery.

Make sure you check with the clinic how many surgeons are available in your location, you could have a few different consults with multiple surgeons until you find the one for you!
