In my early 40's I lost over 4 stone with Slimming World and thought I had finally cracked my weight problem, but over the next two years it all crept back on. After that I thought I was doomed to be fat and miserable. I believed I was incapable of managing my weight. I avoided going out socially. I felt I had nothing to wear, or in reality I just thought I looked dreadful in everything I did have.
One day a colleague at work informed me she was having a gastric band. This was after I had said I would love to have one and this gave her the confidence to tell me. She brought all the literature in and before I knew it I had an appointment to see Mr Hayden at Spire Hospital in Leeds, where my colleague had recently had her operation. Mr Hayden explained everything thoroughly and I paid my deposit the same day. I knew it wasn't going to be easy, but I was confident I could follow the rules and get the results I wanted.
I had the operation on 26/09/16 and by Christmas I looked and felt so much better. It was a great feeling to go out in a dress and heels and have people tell me how good I looked. In June 2017 I went to a party in a lovely summery dress & when I came downstairs my husband looked at me and told me I looked absolutely beautiful. When I arrived at the party everyone commented on how good I looked. Although I would still like to lose another stone, I feel comfortable in my own skin for the first time in years. Having the band fitted was the best decision I have ever made. My husband was so impressed he had the operation in April 2017.
