Laura's Gastric Band Journey - Week 23

WEB.jpg

Laura spots weaknesses in her eating patterns and calls the Healthier Weight aftercare team for advice.

This week was a busy week. Full of parent’s evenings and my birthday. With this rushing around and not much planning of meals happened, but that’s normal everyday life.

I have fallen back into the trap of evening snacking (nothing like I used to do but still snacking). I’m not 100% sure what my focus is right now as it’s been 11 weeks since my 2nd band fill due to going to America a flying and then normal chaos of life.  I’m booked in to get my 3rd fill in a couple of weeks so I think that will boost my goals and get me back on track.

I’ve been yo-yoing 2-3lb for a couple of weeks right now, mainly my eating pattern is to blame as it’s not 3 meals a day and some days I will eat little and others I’ll snack on the go so it’s not really a healthy balance. My activity could be upped also. The band is still brilliant and I’m 100% happy I chose to get it but I still feel I would of got more of a result or restriction but with only two fills there isn’t much I could expect really.

I mentioned my concerns to the wonderful team and they arranged for a nurse to call to discuss my daily habits and ways I can do things differently maybe. I’ve not really taken advantage of the aftercare, maybe I was thinking I could do this alone or it would be easy. If you’re going to get a gastric band, it’s generally because we have an unhealthy relationship with food and that’s definitely where I’m forgetting and I am going to have to change. I think this is a turning point in my journey for the better.
