Claire joined Healthier Weight in 2017 having qualified in 2001 at Salford University gaining a Degree in Adult Nursing qualification.

Claire has been specialising within the Accident and Emergency sector as a Senior Sister for 14 years and more recently as a telephone triage nurse with the GP out of hours service covering Rochdale, Bury and Bolton and NHS 111 as a senior clinician.



Why nursing?

I had just completed a youth training scheme and was feeling I needed to do something more fulfilling so I applied to start a nursing degree and was on my course 3 months later. I loved it from the start and have now been a nurse for 17 years. The diversity of nursing is fantastic and it opens up so many doors into different areas. My background is Accident and Emergency but from that I have used my skills and experience to carry out teaching of Life support skills and telephone triage. I am now part of the Healthier Weight team which is a very different area of nursing for me but I really enjoy the fact that I have learnt new skills and developed my clinical knowledge.

Your favourite hot drink

None. I never drink hot drinks, although I love the smell of fresh coffee. I have a diet coke habit but try to balance things out by drinking plenty of water.
