A bit more about Van
I currently work at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust (HEFT) as a Senior Bariatric Dietitian. I qualified as a Registered Dietitian in 1992, graduating from North London University.
I specialised in weight loss surgery five years ago and previous to this I worked in the speciality of renal disease.
I work closely with specialist bariatrics surgeons to ensure we provide the best possible care for all our patients. As well as providing dietetic advice I use NLP (Neuro linguistic programming) and CBT ( Cognitive behavioural therapy), a talking therapy that can help you manage your problems by changing the way you think and behave. This is required to be successful with weight loss as losing weight is not just about what we eat, it's about understanding why we eat and when. Both diet and lifestyle changes are essential.
I am a firm believer of "practice what you preach". In my spare time, I enjoy training at the gym and socialising. I am passionate about weight management and weight loss surgery and look forward to helping you to achieve your goals.
