Majid Ali
Prof. Majid Ali, Consultant General, Upper GI and Bariatric Surgeon is the head of the department of surgical specialities & endoscopy at the University Hospital Ayrshire & Arran, which he established in 2007. This service is one of the four main bariatric centres in Scotland and is considered to be one of the most successful and robust services in the country.

Prof. Majid is an experienced General and Upper GI laparoscopic and endoscopic surgeon with special interest in the surgical treatment of severe and complicated obesity. He has received several excellence awards in the recognition of his achievements in his field of surgery and teaching. Prof. Majid is an Honorary professor at the school of health and Science at the University of West of Scotland.

He is one of the managers and representatives of the Scottish bariatric surgeons in the SCOTS study, researching the long-term effects of bariatric surgery. He participates regularly in international conferences as the invited speaker and to perform live surgery.
