Diagnosed leak from the port, tubing or band itself

It is not uncommon for bands to leak. In good centres this can happen in up to 5% of cases. If your band develops a leak it is most likely to stem from the access port (where your band is accessed for band fills). In fewer cases it will stem from the tubing, usually the part of the tubing where the band connects to the access port, and in very rare cases from the band (the part that fits around the stomach) itself.

In order to check your band is leaking we’ll undertake some simple diagnostic tests. These tell us if and how your band is leaking. See more information on suspected leaks, and how we diagnose them here.

On this page we provide all of the information you need to understand the different types of leak and the action we will take to remedy it. Please use the links below to find the information you need.
