My story
My starting weight was 16.7 stone. I had my gastric sleeve fitted in August 2015, in the Spire’s Hospital in Manchester. My surgeon was Mr Alan Li. I found him so down to earth, and he made me feel at ease, as did the staff at the hospital, I couldn’t fault them.
I had my consultation in Belfast and my nurse, Sam, was and is still so supportive. She’s always there at the end of the phone if I need to chat. I have suffered from the eating disorder bulimia for years. I went from that to being obese and very depressed. I was reluctant to go out at all, and I lost my job as a healthcare worker. I felt I had no way out but I continued to show a brave face for my sons. I know that I had to do something – my blood pressure was through the roof, and due to years of bulimia my teeth were falling out, I was very ill. Finding Healthier Weight was the best decision of my life. Aside from losing the weight, I’ve got peace of mind. My life has changed dramatically. I’m so happy and contented now, I love my life. I wake up every morning with hope and lots of energy. I’ve met a fantastic guy and I’m getting married to him at Christmas in a dress I could only have dreamed of wearing before. I owe my life to Healthier Weight.
