Weighing in at 23st 12lbs at the grand age of 25 years old was a misery no one, unless obese themselves, could ever understand.
Every Monday I would start a new diet and by Monday evening, I would have broken it. I would book luxury holidays to try and inspire me to lose weight but even this failed. I hated holidays when I was obese and felt that every one was looking at me. Sometimes I would cancel the holiday at the last minute just so I did not have to go through the hateful ordeal.
By age 35, I would wake up with a headache and generally felt unwell. It became apparent that my blood pressure was becoming dangerously high and my doctor advised that I had to start blood pressure medication as I was at real risk of a stroke. It was at this point that I started to think of weight loss surgery.
I researched several weight loss centres but after a lot of discussion, I just knew that Healthier Weight was the right company for me. My contact at Healthier Weight was Emma, she was so empathetic, knowledgeable but never pushy. I'm so grateful to Emma because she gave me the confidence to change my life once and for all*.
I checked into hospital on Thursday 23 April 2009 and drove home 200 miles on the Sunday 26th after having the gastric bypass procedure. I never felt any real pain after the surgery, yes I did have an awareness, but never needed any pain killing medication once discharged from hospital.
Six months later I had lost 8 stone and dropped from a 50 to 36inch waist and I felt a million dollars*. My first holiday as a new man was in Orlando. It was the best ever*! I didn't stop shopping as I could buy from normal shops and got into my first ever pair of Levi 501's.
Now April 2010, some 11 months after surgery, I weigh in at 13st 9lbs, some 10 stone lighter and have changed my complete wardrobe from XXXL to 34 inch waist and either medium or large shirts*. I am no longer on any medication for high blood pressure and my doctor tells me that my blood pressure is better than his!*
I have bought myself a shire horse and regularly go out riding. I look forward to Saturdays as I am now making up years and years of lost time and love to dance the night away and socialising with new found friends. My confidence is at an all time high and I'm starting to love life and the way I look again*. Yes I'm 37 years old but feel 21 again, wow this is great*!
For anyone who has tried and failed on conventional diets time and time again, I would say stop wasting your time and money. My only regret is that I wasted over 15 years - how I wish I could turn back the clock.
Good luck to anyone who is considering weight loss surgery but really it isn't luck you need. You simply need the confidence to take the first steps and book yourself in for a consultation with a reputable weight loss surgery provider. Personally I would recommend Healthier Weight but you must find out who is right for you!
