Gastric Sleeve
The Gastric sleeve (also known as the laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy) is the world’s fastest growing weight loss procedure. It has grown rapidly in popularity in recent years and now accounts for more procedures in the NHS than the gastric band or gastric bypass.

ESG
Healthier Weight were the first to perform the latest in weight loss techniques, the Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty also known as the non-surgical sleeve. The ESG involves suturing the stomach from the inside to significantly reduce its capacity by up to 80%.

Prof Rishi Singhal
qualifications: MBBS, MRCS, FRCS, MD
Prof Singhal, Medical Director at Healthier Weight, is also a Consultant Surgeon in the West Midlands, operating out of Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust in Birmingham. He performs various laparoscopic and open general upper GI and bariatric surgical procedures including gastric bypass, gastric sleeve and anti-reflux surgery. He has a particular interest in revisional bariatric surgery including gastric band removal and conversion to sleeve/bypass.

- Principal investigator for a randomised control trial comparing medical therapy vs bariatric surgery in patients with Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension. The outcome from this trial is expected to determine the best treatment for these patients
- Principal Investigator for the By band Sleeve trial at HEFT, an NIHR funded portfolio study that compares the outcomes between the 3 commonly performed bariatric procedures. It is the largest trial on bariatric surgery in the world
- Leading an observational study looking into the impact of bariatric surgery on reduction of malignant transformation in obese patients with endometrial hyperplasia.
- Has ongoing research interests in the metabolic effects of bariatric surgery on patients with diabetes
Mr Tom Wiggins
qualifications: MBChB, PhD, FRCS
Mr Wiggins is the Clinical service lead for Upper GI and bariatric surgery at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital. He completed his surgical training in London including specific training in Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery and was selected for the prestigious Fellowship in Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton. His fellowship at this international centre of excellence for bariatric surgery provided extensive experience in all forms of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery.

- He developed skills in laparoscopic and bariatric surgery as senior Clinical Fellow in the Upper GI Unit at Heartlands Hospital in Birmingham.

Mr Paul Super
qualifications: MB, BS, FRCS
Mr Super is a highly experienced surgeon, performing over 400 laparoscopic gastric band operations each year. He is one of the most prolific band surgeons in the world with over 10,000 procedures undertaken.

Prof Theo Ngatchu
qualifications: MD, MRCP
Prof Ngatchu is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist with over 20 years experience. He trained at the oldest medical school in the world, The University of Padua in Italy. He operates out of Spire Hospital in Birmingham and specialises in the implantation of the gastric balloon device. He is a Consultant Physician & Gastroenterologist at the Heart of England NHS Trust.
